Family Reunion Organization for Next Year

GiGi thinks outloud...Man, what a great weekend. I think we really have something great going on here...

After talking with a few people, these ideas have come together and they beg publication.

Since we have agreed that Lake of the Woods is a great spot for next year, let's get a little organization goin' on here. I think all of us agree this can be a great time for our kids and their kids so let's do this right and make a few plans. Please post your comments and inputs about these ideas for a successful family reunion next year. But, please note if you want something done, you will probably be the person in charge of seeing that it gets done!! Scary thought, huh? Yes, if you would like to see something different be prepared for heading that up. These are just suggestions.

  2. I think that we ought to have pre-reunion plans too. what i am thinking is that ALL of us ought to be in contact with Chuck and really let hi knkow that he has people that love him and want to get to know him better.
He is part of the family and with out him we are really incomplete. and without us he is complete.
We just need to let him know we are thinking of him.

  3. Good point, Dick. I sent Chuck's address and email (I think it's correct) to everyone so let's all inundate him with notes and reminders and let him understand in no uncertain terms that he is part of the family.

  4. Besides the geocaching, I'll bring our kayaks next year and the wood, but I won't be part of a committee (where minutes are kept and hours are lost).

  7. each group at the big fire, EACH night, needs to clean up the area. The seperate fires in each camping spot are those peoples responsibility. We need to ALL pitch in before we leave the area for activities during the day.
Also, how about a time each day for pictures. Our kids and their kids missed being in them since they showed up late the next to last day !! Ben

  8. Ben, good idea about scheduling in the picture taking time. That is why we need to have a schedule for activities. Gi

  9. Family Photo Schedule:
    6:00pm - 10 Old People
    6:10 - Old People w/spouses
    6:15 - Cousins
    6:20 - Cousins w/spouses
    6:20 - Gang
    7:00 - ?? Dinner ??
If we can get other groups, like 'tiny dogs'group photo, or whatever, we'll fit them in also. But everyone should be there for the 6:00. Then we can have dinner immediately after.

One more note: Try to 'plan'for this time. Don't, 'oh I gotta......' Remember, we loose some, while we wait for others.

  10. It sounds like Peter just volunteered for job #15, Family Meeting Facilitator. Written scheduling is good, as it lets everyone know what is happening.

Ben, you sound like a true fireman.

They're all great ideas, and yes, Randy and his girlfriend have already said that they would attend next year.

  11. ILLA: i sign up for the evening cleanup of the fire site. we take a walk with the dog at about 3 am anyway so we double check the site. but it would still be a good idea that the last people at the fire make sure that all food stuff is put up in the cabins or car so that the animals don't get into it.
