About 10" Diamenter- Tailpipe from Ancient UFO?

Got any ideas what this is? Found it while hiking in the woods some years back.

Gravity flow for electricity??? If that's the case it has to be a horizontal oscillator.
I think it's part of a water flume system. The part that doesn't travel in the flume.

Or it could be flowing down hill and powering a type of water-wheel? I DONT KNOW ;)
There is a flume up the road from Peters house.

Probably a sewer pipe. Stick your nose in it.

Shows how 'too late smart' I am. These WERE all over the place around our house. They are wooden pipe sections, and yes, from the reservoir above our house. It's the old water system that supplied water to Falls City and Monmouth. Probably back in the days when when Falls City had three Logging mills, a whole bunch of bars, and a train running to the mountains. These were wound with heavy wire the full length. If I had been smart in '77, I would have gathered as many as I could, they'd be worth a lot of money now.
