I think this is pretty cool. About as good as the weather people. love to all.

I know that I will not be available june 24,25,26th. I have decided that I am going to the races. I have my room reserved and am sticking everything into savings that I can so I can afford to go. I asked Norm if he wanted to go but got the hem-hah. So I am going anyway. I thought it was only fair as he expects me to go to the desert way out in Nevada for a week several times this summer, but we shall see. I have also gone fishing (pole watching) for 6 hours at a time and frozen my @ss off, not to mention toes, feet and hands.

I don't mind the camping which I like to do but I think I am going to have to draw the line anymore with this fishing thing in the dead of winter. It was ok until I got sick. Might be ok if we had had a fire. Told him next time I am taking FIREWOOD. Thank heavens fishing season is closed on Eagle Lake now until May 31.

Anyway, I like this sign.

This is a nice weather station, a little bulky to hang on the wall though. I never could understand hunting and fishing. I mean, why spend all that money, discomfort and time, when you can go to the market? Did you know that some anthropologists would 'pay' the Amazon Indians to take their cloths off! The Indians response, 'we like cloths, they keep us protected from bugs and cutting plants'. On the other hand, certainly there is some values in being a hunter gatherer: you get a great tan in the summer, uh, you get fresh meat (if you make it to the freezer in time). Your appreciate your bed more. Uh....Oh I'm sure there's more.

illa, curious. who is Norm? you got a new bo ? ;)
Where in the desert in Nevada does he want to go? The furthest I have made it in that area is Steven's camp, which is part of the Applegate trail. It is really quite beautiful and peaceful there.
Peter, there is just something about sitting by a river, with you're fishing pole and enjoying the peace and serenity of running water. Even if you dont catch anything, there is always the joy of watching the ever hanging environment of your surroundings. Kind of like life. Things are not always on a consistent routine. Kind of like life. You never know what the next cast is going to bring. Will it be a large 23 lb. steelhead or a 6 in trout or nothing. It's a consistent game of cat and mouse. In this case fish and man. Sometimes the fish win. Thats why its called fishing and not catching. (to quote a wise man).
Its kind of like when I go out driving in the woods. I may see nothing one day and think why did I do this. The next time I go out I may see a bear, coyote or deer, and it makes that time even more special. You just never know what is out there.

Ya know, Dick paints a much nicer picture of fishing than Illa does! Of course, Illa was nutty enough to go in the winter.

I like fishing in the winter. Slick rocks, frozen fishing line, fingers and hands getting cold, snot running down from your nose. Rain, falling up steep banks occasionally lightning. Ahhh yes.
But the really nice part is when you get home and help the bro stack firewood that he has collected along the way. Then go in the house and enjoy a nice warm crackling fire or take a hot shower.
Boy, i need to go fishing now.
I look at it this way "you can always put enough on. But, you cant take enough off".

Norm is the gentleman I am seeing, dating. Since Sept 1st. He does most of the cooking. I have dinner once a week. He comes out to where I work most every day at my dinner break. He is retired CDF. Neither of us wish to marry again, which is great. He is good company. I like most of what he does. He doesn't do much with his days which bothers me a bit as I am so active. He likes being outdoors and football. I like fishing or trying to anyway, just not when it is freezing. I wouldn't mind if we went later in the day when the sun is up but getting there while it is still dark and you have to wait an hour or soo before sun up is just a little too early especially when it below freezing like between 0 and 20 degrees. Hopefully you will get to meet him one of these days. That is if I don't scare him off with the work I am trying to get him to help with.

Zero!!!! I rest my case. He really must like to fish. One of these months Karen and I are going to make the circuitous route, maybe we can meet in Weed/Shasta when you're visiting there. Just as soon as we sell our house, we'll be taking a trip. Hope to end up in Colorado visiting kids.

I'm too lazy to carry around something that heavy.
