I don’t know about you, but human nature never ceases to amaze me. Sorry for the cliche, but it fits perfectly! This is why I’m intrigued by the study of humans; on one hand, they can be so stupid, on the other, they can be incredibly brilliant. Some times they can be both at the same time!
Here’s a man who has everything, but he gambles it for some kind of fantasy going on between his ears.
But this is old news, we hear of pastors, politicians, powerful business men, who have everything you and I only dream about. But they sell their souls for a bit of pleasure.
Women aren’t exempt from all this either. How many teachers have we read about that sacrifice their entire careers, some, even their families. Only God knows what they get out of it.
Oh, and don’t think that brains are a safety net in all this; Einstein, John Kennedy, and a more recent President were all philanderers.
All this has got to be related to that scripture that describes ‘the mystery of iniquity’ (2Thess2.7) Then the Apostle Paul in another place talks about ‘the law of sin and death’ (Romans 7) that wants to find expression in him.
Lord, deliver us from ourselves!

Yesterday i was at Les Shwabb trying to eliminate some problems with the bronco. The guy that is the assistant manager asked me "do you believe in God" I of course said yes. We have developed a friendly repor. That went on to his asking me why bad things happen to good people. I told him that that is the nature of sin. for example, when it rains it rains on everyone. not just the people that dont believe in rain.
He also stated "this cant be all there is to IT" meaning our existence. Then i went a little bit into the how we are earthly beings with a spirit that God desires for us to allow him to change. But we have to do our part in having a relationship with him.
So are we exempt from sin. Heavens no. but we have an advocate with the Father. Do we make mistakes? Yes, we are human and have free will. Do we sin because we know that god will forgive us? No. but when we relize our sin and ask forgiveness we know that he will take and throw them to the depth of the sea. Its us who go fishing after them and bring them back up.

Yes, and amen! But "mistake" is not the word. Certainly we make mistakes, but this is deeper, darker. Thank God there is forgiveness for all categories of "sin". But all the more reason to see it for what it is, this congressman, Einstein, and the others, clearly have something going on that more resembles an addiction, or demon possession. Resemble I say, no more. I truly feel sorry for such people. These are the only ones we hear of; the sensational, the rich, the powerful. But the world is full of these poor folk with similar problems. Yes, because of 'free will' they are responsible for every way they fail.
I know that I am fully capable of any failure. but what is the difference between me and them? It's simple, I go to the One who can help, they go to rehab.
Humans sure can be human at times!
