Speaking of pears................................

Sandi and I took a day trip over to Seiad Valley today. Seiad Valley is where Mom and Dad had the mining claim that we experienced each summer growing up. It took Mom about 6 hours to drive there, we got there in about 3 hours. We took a route (now paved) that Mom didn't like (maybe because it wasn't paved then). It was one of the first places that I took Sandi, and it was one of the first places that we took the boys camping and fishing. It holds many good memories and experiences. Andrew introduced Rachael to it a few weeks ago, so the tradition is being carried on.

It was a classic fall day; leaves changing colors, cool at higher elevations, and the feel of the change of seasons to come. We used the 'Super Duper Hooper Apple Plucker' on some pears in an abandoned pear tree and we found that it worked up to industry standards on pears too.

She's pointing to a carving that I did in Oct. 1995 on one of the trips that the guys and I took over there. It says "Hooper 10/95."
