the adventure for the day

Chuck and I headed out to Forest-hill for the day. Aubrun is 17 miles from Chucks and Foresthill is 15 miles from Auburn.
In 2006 i was at a fire and we were based at a place called China Wall. its about another 12 miles east of Foresthill. If you were to stay on this road you would eventually end up at Lake Tahoe via forest service roads. One of these days i will venture out that way.
The area is very remote and there was actually snow up past China Wall, so we turned around and toured Forest hill. I could live up there real easy.

view from china wall.

snow on the side of the road. heading back down the hill.

WOW, I am jealous - that snow looks so pretty...and deep. Did you get to see the place where you stayed for the fire?

Do you think there is more or less snow than say, last year at this time? There are a lot of neat places around there within driving distance of Folsom.

Looks like a beautiful day. For some reason, I pictured that area looking a bit different. Never been there.
Karen and I had a great day also; we'd never been to Suzie's place in Eugene. So we drove there and had coffee with her and Chardo. We had a good visit, the weather was great- until we got home. It was pouring rain! Dick's pic looks like our place a few days ago, but rain washed it all away.

Glenda, unfortunitly no. its about 1/4 mile China Wall. The gate further up the road is about 100 feet from the CW turn off. From the gate there was snow in the road. i dont feel the tires i have are really good for that kind of snow. and i didnt want to risk getting stuck with Chuck.
Jim, id have to look at the archives to find that out.
Peter, it is beautiful. Tahoe is about 60 miles as the crow flies. Glad you had a good time with Suzie and Chardo
