Ahhhhhh......That's the 3rd earthquake I've ever felt. The first was while sitting in church, the second was here at home, the third was yesterday lying on the floor playing with Gonz. The third one will always be the best. The USGS site has some interesting information on yesterday's quake. What is really interesting is the number of people that responded to the "Did you feel it?" section. You can't read their comments, but you can gauge the strength of of by the number of respondents.
We, in Crescent City, didn't have any damage so we drove by the beach after no tsunami warning were put into effect so we could be assured that everything was still place. It was. I guess it was only a slight burp in the bowels of the earth. Burps are a good thing. Jim
Mr 13:8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there will be earthquakes in many places, and there will be famines, and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
Wow, Peter, Mark 13:8 is having a very strong impact on me after just watching the news about Haiti. I was in Port-Au-Prince on a missions trip in 2005 and it was in terrible condition then. Over 2 million people live in that city and the city has just been wiped out by a 7.? earthquake. We better count our blessing here in California. Our little quake was nothing compared to what those poor people are going to have to endure. Love you all.
This has got to be one of the saddest things that can happen. These people are some of the poorest in the world. They have very little law, infrastructure, human services. Even at the best of times, so many people have almost nothing. But as I watch the news, I hear of so many missionaries there helping how they can. I'll be praying that these people will be able to see God's love, even during this terrible time.
It's so shocking to hear the news out of Haiti, especially after just joking around about having a 6.5 here a few days ago. We are can only imagine what it would be like if our recent quake's impact would have been slightly different. I see little babies hurt--they are the same size as Lil G, and it takes my breath away. I'm shaking my head as I type this. May God shelter these poor people in this terrible hour. Surely we can have compassion and support for our fellow humans. This is an hour of our testing. Can we rise above our own needs to help these poor poor people!?
