Well, here it the back porch so far. The common wall is half way up. Only two more boards to put on and one has to be cut a bit as somehow I got off kilter. Oh well, I am not going to undo everything and unless you know it, I don't think anyone will be able to tell. You all will have to come and see and let me know.

Hey Mom, my friend Bear asked me if he could hire you to build him a deck. I say you ask for air fare on top of labor fees.
My neighbor is my supervisor and he lets me know when I have screwed up. He asked if I had put the lag bolts into the last joist to hold up the common wall. I said no, I forgot. So now I have to crawl under and put those in. Turns out that it is not square. One end is 1 in. shorter than the other in width. I think that has to do with tring to space the boards and they were warped. I spaced the first six boards up next to the house and then decided I didn't like how that was working out so I butted the boards together. They will swell up during the winter but they will shrink a lot. At least the old porch on the front did and now there is 1/2 inch spaces between the boards and I did the spacing thing on it 5 years ago. I think I will use a wedge block on the front instead of the nails and it might work out better.
The dogs went to the vet this am. I pick up Zippy and Banzai this afternoon. They both, Zippy and Cabbage travel well. Got Teresa moved into her apt. yesterday. What a job but she is in. Yeah!!!!
Got to get busy here so will talk to everyone later.
As for anyone else's decks, it will be next year as I think it will take me all summer to do what I want here. And yes, Teresa, I think air fare would be a must as a trip to England or New Zealand would be out of my range. But what a trip that would be!
