...and the hits keep on coming.

We had another 3 inches of the white stuff last night. that is on top of the already existing 8 inches. DOT and the city has restricted all roads to vehicles with chains or 4x4s with studs.

Karen and I had a crazy trip back. Like 36 degrees top of the Sisiques. Then warm in the 40s the whole way down I-5. No snow -nothing! I was really getting cocky for my excellent timing, then turned off I-5 to Corvallis, within 10 miles the temp dropped 9degrees!. Then North from Corvallis another 5 miles it was solid ice. We called our home, no answer machine- powers out. So I took Karen to her mom's and I went home. Fortunately I ran into my neighbor next door on his way home, he had his chain saw. Freezing rain with a foot of snow brought down trees across the road. I stayed home over night. More freezing rain brought more trees down, covered the road. Took me 1.5 hours to cut my way out. Oh my aching back! But there's always something to be thankful for - I am really thankful I have a back. But Lord, if I wanted to cut wood, I'd go to Jim's!!

Looks like we'll be about a week without power, but we have mom inlaws place to stay at while things are bad at our place. Oh, another thing to be thankful for. Thank you JESUS

But if you had he would have been out in half the time. Are you ok up there? We have more snow here but not anything like what you have gotten.

I was going to hold off on the "thing". Do you want me to hold off longer Peter? I am ok for now.

Really wish you had been able to come Dick. We missed you. There was quite a spread. A lot of really nice people, a whole lot that I didn't know. Ben had a lot of friends that he didn't realize that he had. Even his boss came and I didn't think he would.

Anyway, I am glad you all are safe for the moment. I did work today and an curled up on the bed with WWE on and trying to rest. Teresa has crashed as Adam is back and is taking care of the kids while we recoup. I had a small nap earlier. Couldn't go on. Feel a little better but don't feel like facing anything. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

I love you guys. Just having this to read is a big help. Good nite all and take care of yourselves.

Illa.
the pic is taken out on the road in front of my apartment. plus we got another 2 inches today. its beautiful. but im tired of it. cabin fever. i got out a little today and played in the snow drifts with my bronco. most of east side of portland is in a state of emergency so that the state will bring more plows to clear some of the roads in gresham. I84 is closed from troutdale to cascade locks. that highway is a major thruway for commercial transport and travel.
so ya, were pretty socked in around here.

We took Claudia down to the doctor for her last check up yesterday, and it was pretty wild up in the passes, very very slippery. Then dry pavement in the valleys! Wacky weather.

Looks like we may have a grand son next Monday or Tuesday. I'll keep you all posted.

Love and hugs all around.

Sandi, I'm so excited for you guys...are you very far from the hospital or is she having him at home? A lot of families are into mid-wives because of the costs, etc. I will be anxious to hear what they will name him. I hope you guys are rested from your company.

Peter, I am so glad you guys got back safely. I hate to even bring up my trip!!! No problems, it went smooth and just some rain.

Illa, I hope you are able to rest and recoup. The service was so good. I will put the pictures up that I took of the Sanctuary with Ben's pictures. I also took a picture of the wall Ben helped paint with the ice on it. I'll have to do it tomorrow because when I get off work today, I am going straight home to bed!! I hope all of you are ready for the big day on Thursday. I know for each one of us it may not be what we would have planned. Some of us will miss our loved ones, or struggle with family problems. Perhaps some will experience the unexpected(we could have an early arrival and welcome a new baby to the family!!!)but I wish you all much Joy of the Season, a Merry Christmas and prayers for the year to come. I am praying that the "Reason for the Season" will become a reality in all of our lives and each of us will have hope and faith that the future is in the hands of an Awesome God.

We made the trip to Redding yesteray for the death certs. got some of the paperwork started. Got some stuff at Walmart. Then splurged and took the kids and all to Lims. We had an extra setting for Ben as that was his favorite restuarant. I think the lady thought we were kooks. Oh well. It felt right and that he was there. Now I can finish the other paperwork that has been hanging. Maybe stop some calls. Life again. Snowed a bit more. At least we are getting some. I think Portland is being ahog this year. It could at least spread it around.

Well, tomorrow is stay at home and vegitate day. Hope I can do that. Talk to you all later. Merry Christmas to all of you and may you have a very happy New Year.

Love from all of us.
