......................out on a limb

OK, I’m going to go out on a limb and set the date and locale for the next reunion.

In view of the fact that, if you have kids, or have a work or school schedule that you must consider, or if you don’t need to deal with the previous two reasons and you fall into the category of just like to do something memorable on three-day weekends (like who doesn't?)it seems that taking advantage of holidays would be an important consideration. It appears that Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7 this year. I think school starts for us on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

I checked out Florence Keller Park near Crescent City and found out other than the fact that it’s really dark there (duh, it is in the Redwoods), and there are only two spaces with full hookups (and you’d have to wrestle the park host for one of them), and the restroom facilities are like those you may find at an old gas station on I5 somewhere between Sacramento and LA, it’s a great location. Even with all that said, I think that instead of there we should have the reunion at the local KOA. If you follow some of the links on the KOA website you may find yourself coming early and staying longer. There are a ton of things to do around here. OK, you were warned.

The local KOA is just a ½ mile north on 101 and I think it would be a better location. Here’s a link: http://www.koa.com/where/ca/05102/

Here’s a link to a motel on the south side of Crescent City. I know Ben and Illa stayed there in the past. I’ll defer any questions to Illa, but I think it’s a pretty neat and quiet place, unless I’m on the beach cutting wood there. http://www.crescentbeachmotel.com/

Here’s another link to another place on the coast right in Crescent City. http://www.hamptoninn.com/en/hp/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=CECCAHX

So, let it be written, so let it be said. It will be Friday, Sept. 4 thru Monday, Sept. 7…………......unless Suzi wants it at a different time.

Sounds great, ok.... It would be nice if those that wish to stay in a motel, we'd stay all in the same one, we need to start reserving as I was told when I was in Cresent City, they were booking it as of that date, .... Jess, Lisi & Lili. We liked the one we were at when we came there also,

That is cool with me. I like that park as it has lots of area for the kids to run. I will be bringing the small trailer and if I get the truck fixed may bring the 5th wheel also if BJ and April get to come. I personally, for me, want to spend at least one night sometime around then at that Crescent Beach Motel. No fancy amenities (coffee pot, refridge, microwave) but it is a nice place and they have rooms with 2 beds for bigger families. They do have TV tho and a continentel breakfast. Their rates around holiday time is only about $100 a night. I will have to see what I can arrange once the money situation is settled to get stuffed booked ahead. I also need to let my boss know when I will be gone so that no one else tries to take that time off.

That is great for Rick and I, it will give us more time to plan.

Hey Jim and Sandi, thinking of you and your new addition. Keep us updated. Really happy and excited for all your family.

Bonnie and Rick,
I've been putting my time off to good use. I've been grandson gift shopping. Important stuff like newborn fishing poles, newborn backpacks, and newborn hiking shoes. Do you know that the choices are pretty limited? I think that there may be a whole new untapped market? The next great new idea is just an imagination away.

Hi everyone, we had a wonderful gift for this Christmas. Teisha and I drove up to Napa to try and find Julee. After checking with people at the shelter we decided to drive up to where she used to live. I was so happy to find the guy who owns the place at home AND with a Christmas card from Julee!! She has been in the state hospital in Norwalk CA. And after many telephone calls to track her down I was finally able to talk with her on the unit's pay phone. This May it will be 3 years since I have seen or heard from her so I was very happy to finally find her. That was the best Christmas present ever! I haven't been able to talk to a social worker yet to find out the particular circumstances, but I am certainly hoping she will be able to come to the reunion with us. Labor day weekend sounds great because I will be comnpletely done with school and won't have to worry about a thing.

Jim & Sandi, we are anxiously awaiting the newest member of the family. Thanks for all the resources so I can get started on deciding what kind of place I want to stay in.

Wow, that was great news to locate Julee. It sounds like Providence was looking out for you. What a great Christmas present! I'm glad that Labor Day weekend will work for you too, and you'll be done with school! Yaaa!!!!

I'm convinced that it's not aging that ages parents, it's kids that age parents. Randy and Claudia were hoping that the doctor would induce labor yesterday, but he didn't call back until late afternoon. The doctor and hospital is in Eureka, two hours south. They had an appointment with a nurse practitioner today and she said that they would most likely induce labor on Sunday if Claudia didn't give birth before that. If induced it would mean that the birth would most likely happen on Jan. 5, Randy's birthday.

Wonderful!!!! Do you have an address for her? Send it on if you do.

BTW, if Sandi asks you during the reunion if you know anything about why the cats' yarn ball was somehow smaller after I was finished vacuuming, 'you know nothing.' We had Dungeness crab tonight(our New Year's tradition) and I simply 'helped' clean up afterwards. The reduced size of the cats' yarn ball can be explained in a very simply way. The pieces of yarn in the vacuum can be explained very easily too.
