Rick Says

Hi everyone. It is good to be home with my snuggle bug for a week. The road has been very long road. We have been to California and back about six times and to Chicago once. I really miss all of you and hope we can be at the next family reunion this next year. Ben, we are pulling for you and praying for you. Hang in there.

Our home is such a cozy place and Bonnie keeps it looking really nice. It is great to be home.

As you know, this nation is going through some wild and crazy times. I hope all of you are surviving OK. Better set aside some beans and rice for a rainy day. It may take some time to get out of this present slump.

Love to all of you and God Bless. Rick

Hi Rick,

Tell Bonnie that I'm happy for you both that you made it home safe and sound. I know she's been missing you something terrible. Life is definitely better together, isn't it?

Thanks for taking time to say hello to us.

best wishes,
Sandi & Jim

Won't it be nice when you don't have to be on the road ever again?
Of course, I think that every time I am almost home from a long road trip. Do you get the impression I wouldn't make a very good truck driver? 'Yer right.

Hi Uncle Rick. I took time trying to figure out something creative to say, but it just didn't work. I've got nothing to say other than it's good to read your words, to know you're home safe and comfortable, and hoping that you get lots of rest before you go out on your next big mission. Sure, it's truck driving, but what an important thing it is that you do!

What a waste of the local natural resources!!!!! All those large banana leaves going to waste and to think there could be a real end product to all of them!

they use the leaves to cook with and some can eat,.... It's a great place at times like this as so much food and such ok the island, look forward to returning

Jim said...

Just make sure you cook with the leaves and use them for other things in the proper order.

I'll bet the native Hawaiians love to share their resources with the 'Haolies.'

I did think it was pretty neat to pick bananas off the plant though. They do have a richer flavor than the ones that are available in the stores. BTW, did you hear of the banana disease is back again? It seems that it crops up every few years it quickly decimates the banana crop. Luckily there are many different varities that can be cultivated, but it takes few years for the new varities to take their place.

There, there's your useless Thanksgiving trivia for the day.

Exactly, what "end product" were you thinking of Jim? I don't want any banana leaves on my end product...I don't care if it is a natural resource!! :<)

Well, Lili did did make me think of all those banana leaves. If a person did use beans and rice they certainly would need banana leaves if TP was in short supply.
